Spring time in Mammoth Lakes presents quite a dilemma. For Mammoth locals and visitors, the biggest question each day is deciding which of the many activities to chose.

Starting in May, the daily question is should we hike, bike, run, fish, golf or climb today?

All local roads are open including those usually still closed this time of year. This includes Lake Mary Road with access to the Lakes Basin — this road takes you to many lakes where the fish are waiting and also provides easy access to many trail heads. This is only a partial list of activities and venues opening in May 2015.

May 11: Whitmore Pool Opens. Whitmore Pool is fed by natural hot springs, the pool has a 360-degree view of the Eastern Sierra. The facility includes a six lane 25-meter pool, children’s wading pool, restrooms, hot showers, lawn area, BBQ and vending machines. May 15: Sierra Star Golf Course Opens. The only 18 hole course in town is simply spectacular. In the golf world you often hear about a “signature hole” at a specific golf course. May 22: Snowcreek Golf Course Opens (driving range already open for the season). The course is located in Old Mammoth, nestled between the Sherwin Mountain Range and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. Beautiful 360-degree vistas enjoyed from every hole on the course.

May 23: Mountain Bike Park and Adventure Center Kick-off. Located at Mammoth Mountain, you can hit the trails for two-wheel fun or let the kids spend a day on the zip line, climbing wall or euro-bungee.
